What is the BEST registration process?

As a project, my friends and I are trying to design a new website that will allow college students to register for classes.
What do you think that could help us?

Your first job is to pick the backend for your website. This will drive many of your decisions. You need a database that integrates well with the mddleware you select. It is very much a ‘bottom up’ design. The website design and function will be dependent on those choices.
