What is registration like at your college or university?

At the university I attend. They treat us like babies. I graduated from a community college and had no problem registering for classes. But, at the university I attend I have to see my adviser every semester. I can see if I was a freshman or sophomore. Then on top of all of that there are not enough online classes. The community college I came from got this university beat. No wonder a lot of students are attending online universities.
We registered online. My university has over 50,000 people, so mandatory meetings are a little out of the question.
I had to meet with a freshmen adviser just for freshmen year. After that you didn’t need to meet with anyone. When you declared your major and minor you met with an adviser from the department to plan out your schedule to complete the program, (on the declaration form you had to list all the courses you took and plan to take to fullfill the major requirements). Other than that you were on your own. If you studied abroad you had to meet with someone. Basically all the meetings were to make sure you were doing things in a way to be done in four years and to be aware if you weren’t. I didn’t take it as a major inconvenience, lots of students need the personal attention. I was glad to talk to someone from the department because they knew if a class I was planning to take was actually going to be held the semester I was planning to take it.
