There were 5,231 sex offenders registered with the state police at the end of 2010, according to the state Department of Public Safety’s annual report.

I’m writing a paper for class on the sex offender registration laws in the US. I need to compare state laws. Are there any states that have significantly less strict laws on registration and states that have harsher laws than others?
