How big of a roll (if any) should cross registration play in my college making decision?

I’m looking at colleges and there are cross registration systems that I have looked into; The Five Colleges in Massachusetts and one the DC. Is it a good idea to chose a lower quality school (Umass or George Mason) on the assumption that I’ll be taking classes at other, beter schools (In Umass’ Case Amherst and Hampshire, and in George Mason’s case Georgetown, Maryland, American and/or George Washington) or to simply pick a beter school?

I’m of the school of thought that says if you can get a Georgetown University education for George Mason tuition go with George Mason, although your diploma will still say George Mason

It is the easiest way to choose a lower school…Try to shot for the stars and pick a better school.

Pick the better school, if you can afford it. I go to a school in Boston where the big selling point was cross-registration but the process is such a pain that I haven’t even used it yet. Not only do you have to go through each different school’s unfriendly registrar and academic affairs offices, but each school has its own schedules, of course, so it’s hard to line yours up with all of them. Ack. But if you’re really dedicated and willing to go through all that, then go for it. Good luck in your college search! :)
