Can anyone give me a URL or Company that designs cheap prepackaged software for online class registration?

I am not looking for a company that you have to pay on a monthly basis, I am looking for software that I can download and then manipulate into a website. The main functionality would be, 2 Types of users-1 that posts classes, a second that can register.
three is plenty of open source software of that type… can;’t think of the name of the one I have experimented with, but it had a very active community – had all that and much more….either google it or query at sourceforge.net (IIRC)
